IOPD Africa: Distinction of best practices and innovations in territorial governance in Senegal

Member event

The International Observatory for Participatory Democracy in Africa (IOPD Africa), in collaboration with the Council of Local Authorities of the WAEMU (CCT UEMOA), United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG Africa) and Enda ECOPOP, is organizing the first sub-regional edition of the Local Leadership Excellence Awards (PELL).

The event aims to reward best practices and innovation in territorial governance by local authorities, journalists, communicators, academics, researchers, children's groups, and young citizens in eight (8) countries in the West African sub-region: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d'Ivoire, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal, and Togo.

After assessing the applications, 26 local governments, 6 journalists, 5 researchers, and 6 young music creators were shortlisted to present their innovations at a peer learning conference.

The conference will be held from 22 to 26 July 2024, in the form of a webinar. The main language will be French.

The three best in each category will receive their trophies during the gala organized at the close of the 5th International Forum on Participatory Democracy in Africa (FIDEPA05), to be held from August 8—10 in Cotonou, Benin.
